Curriculum Vitae

Since 2012 Alexander Behr has studied chemical engineering at TU Dortmund University. He passed his bachelor thesis “Mesh Independency Study of Slug Flow in a Micro-Capillary Reactor using OpenFOAM” at the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics.

Following this, he supported Dr.-Ing. Konrad Boettcher from 2018 to 2020 as a student assistant building a virtual reality based environment to improve the teaching of fluid mechanics.

He completed his master at the Laboratory of Equipment Design with the thesis “Simulation of a Heat Exchanger with Bionic Flow Distribution Designed by Evolutionary Algorithms“ in August 2020.

In October 2020 he started as a research associate in the NFDI4Cat project at the Laboratory of Equipment Design focusing on ontology design.

Catalysis is a complex field of science, so much data is produced during research handling different kinds of information on a process. To get a better understanding and develop new, better catalysts, a unified view on catalysis is needed.

The aim of NFDI4Cat is to provide this unified view. This is to be achieved by an ontology which interconnects different type of data in a machine and human comprehendible way.

From his former activities the following publications were achieved:

  • K. Boettcher, A. S. Behr, 2020, Usage of a virtual environment to improve the teaching of fluid mechanics, International Journal of Online and Biomedical Engineering (iJOE), Vol. 16, No. 14 (2020), https://doi.org/10.3991/ijoe.v16i14.16997

Open Theses

BA / MA: Development of an ontology based on laboratory results and analytical data with focus on the scale-up of a biocatalytic reactor (DE / EN)

Experience in ontology design and programming isn't necessary but a general interest in programming would be preferable.

Please contact me via email and we can discuss about a possible topic for a thesis.
